FreeBSD—the powerful, flexible, and free Unix-like operating system—is the preferred server for many enterprises. But it can be even trickier to use than either Unix or Linux, and harder still to master. Absolute FreeBSD, 2nd Edition is your complete guide to FreeBSD, written by FreeBSD committer Michael W. Lucas. Lucas considers this completely revised and rewritten second edition of his landmark work to be his best work ever; a true product of his love for FreeBSD and the support of the FreeBSD community. Absolute FreeBSD, 2nd Edition covers installation, networking, security, network services, system performance, kernel tweaking, filesystems, SMP, upgrading, crash debugging, and much more, including coverage of how to:–Use advanced security features like packet filtering, virtual machines, and host-based intrusion detection –Build custom live FreeBSD CDs and bootable flash –Manage network services and filesystems –Use DNS and set up email, IMAP, web, and FTP services for both servers and clients –Monitor your system with performance-testing and troubleshooting tools –Run diskless systems –Manage schedulers, remap shared libraries, and optimize your system for your hardware and your workload –Build custom network appliances with embedded FreeBSD –Implement redundant disks, even without special hardware –Integrate FreeBSD-specific SNMP into your network management system. Whether you're just getting started with FreeBSD or you've been using it for years, you'll find this book to be the definitive guide to FreeBSD that you've been waiting for.

Download Effect of Aqueous Impregnation of Rice Kernels with Gum Arabic and Xanthan on Storage Stability of Frozen Rice Cakes Pdf

Effect of Aqueous Impregnation of Rice Kernels with Gum Arabic and Xanthan on Storage Stability of Frozen Rice Cakes false By: Published on 2017 by Abstract : Rice kernels were steeped (10°C, 5 h) in an aqueous solution containing gum arabic (0.36%) and xanthan (0.24%) and then drained, wet‐milled, and steamed to prepare rice cakes. The cakes were then frozen (–40°C for 50 min). The effect of the gum addition on the textural properties of the cakes during storage for 46 h at 25°C after being thawed was examined. Using the combination of gum arabic and xanthan mitigated the quality deterioration of rice cakes such as aggregation of rice flour, which had been induced by xanthan alone. Also, the increase in hardness during storage was substantially reduced by soaking rice kernels in the gum arabic/xanthan solution. Overall results revealed that the steeping in the gum solution improved the storage stability of rice cakes. This Book was ranked at 22 by Google Books for keyword Kernel. B...

Download Torrefaction of Oil Palm Kernel Shell in the Presence of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Pdf

Torrefaction of Oil Palm Kernel Shell in the Presence of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide false By: Published on 2015 by Highlights: Torrefaction of palm kernel shell was done under N2, O2 and CO2 atmospheres. The severity of torrefaction was in the order of O2 \u003e CO2 \u003e N2 . The van Krevelen plots showed the common trend among the three different atmospheres. The oxidative torrefaction rate was extracted from the overall torrefaction rate. The morphological changes were distinctive among the three different atmospheres. Abstract: Torrefaction of oil palm kernel shell (PKS), one of the biomass residues from the palm oil industry, was carried out in a fixed-bed tubular reactor in the presence of oxygen and carbon dioxide at concentrations ranging from 0 to 15 vol.% (nitrogen balance). The effects of oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations (0, 3, 9, 12, and 15 vol.%), temperature (493, 523, and 573 K) and biomass size (0.375 mm and unground) on the solid phase conversion, the energy y...
